Today’s Hurdle takes you through five connected word rounds, building clues as you go. If you’re stuck on any step — whether it’s word one or the final hurdle — this guide has you covered with hints first and answers below.
What Is Hurdle?
Hurdle is a five-round daily word game. Each round works like Wordle: you guess a five-letter word and receive color-coded feedback showing which letters are correct, misplaced, or absent. When you solve a round, that word becomes your opening guess for the next round — carrying over confirmed and misplaced letters as live clues.
By the time you reach the fifth and final hurdle, all four previous answers appear as your starting guesses, giving you a rich lattice of letter information to work with. One important rule: the number of times a letter is highlighted in previous answers doesn’t necessarily tell you how many times it appears in the final word.
Word 1 — April 29, 2026
Hint
This word means to admire deeply, often with affection or reverence.
Answer
ADORE
ADORE means to feel deep love or admiration for someone or something. It’s a common five-letter word and a solid opener for today’s chain.
Word 2 — April 29, 2026
Hint
This word describes something or someone that is heavy or large in size.
Answer
HEFTY
HEFTY means substantial in weight or size. Coming off ADORE, you’re carrying the letters H, E, and others into the next round.
Word 3 — April 29, 2026
Hint
This word describes a creature that walks on two legs.
Answer
BIPED
BIPED refers to any animal that moves on two limbs — humans and birds are classic examples. It’s a less common word that can catch solvers off guard.
Word 4 — April 29, 2026
Hint
Another word for hefty — this one is more direct.
Answer
HEAVY
HEAVY means having great weight. Notice that today’s puzzle reuses the concept from Word 2 (HEFTY) as a hint for Word 4, which is a deliberate misdirection. The two words are near-synonyms, so expect the letter overlap to be minimal where it counts.
Word 5 (Final Hurdle) — April 29, 2026
Hint
This word describes something with a point — literally or figuratively.
Answer
SHARP
SHARP means having a fine edge or point capable of cutting. It can also describe a quick mind, a sudden pain, or a high musical note. With ADORE, HEFTY, BIPED, and HEAVY all giving you confirmed and misplaced letters going in, the S, H, A, R, and P pattern should emerge from the overlap if you’ve been tracking carefully.
