What is NYT Pips?
Today’s theme: Domino-style logic puzzle with color-coded conditions
Pips is the New York Times’ domino-based puzzle game that launched in August 2025. Unlike traditional dominoes, Pips adds a unique twist with color-coded spaces that create specific number conditions you must satisfy.
Quick Guide to Playing Pips
The tiles work like dominoes – placed horizontally or vertically – but with special rules:
- Number conditions: All pips in the space must add up to the specified number
- Equal: Every domino half must show the same number
- Not Equal: Every half must be different
- Less than/Greater than: Pips must be below or above the given number
Blank spaces have no restrictions.
