What Is NYT Pips?
Pips is a domino-inspired puzzle game from the New York Times, released in August 2025. It’s a single-player game with three difficulty levels that refreshes daily.
Unlike traditional dominoes, Pips uses color-coded zones with special conditions you must satisfy to complete the board.
How to Play Pips
Tiles are placed horizontally or vertically, similar to dominoes. Each color-coded region on the board has a rule that the domino halves inside it must follow.

- Not Equal: Every domino half must show a different number of pips.
- Less Than: Every domino half must total less than the number shown.
- Greater Than: Every domino half must total more than the number shown.
If a space has no color coding, there are no conditions for that area.
